The Sights and Sounds of Music

The Jacob Burns' new series, Classical Music on Film, brings the glorious sounds of Bach, Mozart, Glenn Gould, Yehudi Menuhin, Philip Glass (above right), and others to the screen. The films explore many aspects of music, from the making of a Steinway (above left) to the musings of some great composers. Highlights include Brief Encounter and Alexander Nevsky, two films that look at the role of classical music scores in cinema. Check the website for specific movies and showtimes. The series runs through October 29. Jacob Burns Film Center
